Bullion dealers Galore! – My top 3
How do you know which type of deal to choose? First, we will get started with “why do you want to buy gold or even silver?” That’s the first thing you will want to ask yourself. The answer will help you determine what you buy and who you buy it from.
We personally buy metals for three reasons and hold them in different forms. The first reason is we buy to have as an “Oh shit! The sky is falling!” and all fiat goes to the waste side. For this scenario, I buy 1oz bars or smaller bags of Junk Silver. These can be stored in your bank deposit box or at home in a safe that can not be easily picked up. If you have a good memory and you’re maybe a little paranoid you can do what my father in law does put them in mason jars and bury them around the farm. LOL, I would not recommend this. Junk silver is mostly made up of quarters, dimes, nickels and a few half dollars that have been minted with 90 percent silver content from 1934 till 1964. Also, you can find a few half dollars (Kennedy, Franklin, and Barbers). Over the years, it has become harder to find them in bankrolls, or by going to the car wash and getting ten dollars worth of quarters. It’s much easier today just to buy them from as close to spot as possible from a reputable dealer. (see below for list)
The second reason we invest in different dealers is for us is to have a store of wealth long term. For us here at www.sydchasegroup.com, we are a family office so we are thinking very long term on this one, our kids and our grandkids. In this scenario, we are looking to buy both metals in larger ozs up to 100. We are looking to buy as close to spot as possible and sometimes we are even able to buy below spot price. As I mentioned, we are always looking to buy close to spot but the smaller the oz the more premium there is. Ok, so I want you all to know we are not looking to pile it away and have very large sums, say as JPMorgan has. If you google JP Morgan silver hoard, it will amaze you. Though at some point, I have to admit, that would be awesome. They buy mostly silver and in all different forms. See my new book for more details (Your Nobull Guide to Making Money With Alternative Investments). There is a deeper discussion there about silver and gold and all the other ways to buy it and why. See below for links!!
The third reason is for collecting or numismatics. This is a study or collection of currency, including coins, tokens, paper money, and related objects. If you’re interested in this let me know and I will write more about it. This is more a personal thing than a business investment though it can be. I do it for myself. In this scenario. I have collected art bars for years.
What is an art bar? Well, they come in all different forms. An art bar is a bullion bar that has artwork engraved on the front, back, or sometimes even both sides. Sometimes these art bars are created as limited edition collections. They can be bought in Silver, Gold or Copper. Art bars are a beautiful and unique addition to any investment portfolio or collection. Their timelessness and value will continue to bring not only financial security but enjoyment and delight to investors and collectors for years to come. What’s nice about them they normally will not lose value. They have a base value of the metal content and then the rest is based on the artwork. There is actually a book out, kind of like a Kelly blue book for cars, it’s expensive but well worth it if you’re taking this path.

My favorite part is having the grandkids play a part in this. Great fun!
